Annually the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to encourage global exchange and research collaboration between Switzerland and more than 180 other nations. Recipients are chosen by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). 

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are targeted at young researchers from overseas who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at overseas artists holding a bachelor’s degree.
